  • Should state lawmakers pass laws banning gun sales to people on federal terror watchlists and making police share info in background checks?
I believe that Gun control laws do the exact opposite of the very thing it is trying to accomplish, to keep people safe! Gun regulations and background checks disarm innocent law-abiding civilians while doing nothing to prevent the violent criminals from committing atrocities and mass shootings.
Should the Legislature pass civil rights laws prohibiting discrimination against LGBT Floridians at work, in housing, restaurants and hotels?
Libertarians believe discrimination laws of any kind do more harm than good. It is immoral and unconstitutional for politicians to use the force of Government to impose their morals upon private individuals and businesses. In a free country, people should be able to buy or sell products and services without government interference.
Should lawmakers delay using the Florida Standards Assessments for evaluating schools and teachers until there's more confidence in the test?
This question is a small problem of a much larger issue. The real question that should be asked is whether the government should continue to control the education system at all? Government control of education is a gigantic boondoggle and a failure to our children. The only way to make it possible for every child to get a good education is to get the politicians out of the schooling business and put it back in the hands of parents and teachers. Let's repeal the sales tax and cut property taxes in half so parents can use the money for the school they choose.
Is giving economic incentive money to firms willing to move to Florida a good way to expand and attract companies that create jobs?
Using taxpayer money to bribe businesses to move to Florida only benefits the politicians and the businesses that are politically connected, and the promises made to create jobs are never delivered. The only way to spur real job growth is to get rid of all the regulations work against businesses and get government small enough to repeal the corporate tax.
Are there government records or meetings subject to public disclosure that should be exempt from Florida’s government-in-the-sunshine laws?
Transparency should be paramount in our government. The big government politicians forget that they are taking money from the taxpayers, and the taxpayers have a right to know where the money is being spent.
