  • Do you think Palm Beach County voters should approve the penny-per-dollar sales tax increase?
No. County Commissioners have not justified the need for tax increase representing a 17% sales tax increase, which is regressive and will disproportionately impact low income residents and senior citizens on fixed incomes, especially during a period in which the county enjoyed high levels of tourism dollars and highest property tax revenues since 2007.
Do you support legislation to broaden access to the ballot through open primaries or letting people change party affiliation on election day?
No, I favor closed primaries. Open primaries and election day changes open the electoral process to manipulation and error.
Are ballots in Palm Beach County being counted as efficiently and quickly as possible?
I believe the emphasis should be on counting ballots accurately and implementing internal controls to safeguard ballots and voting machines and ensure that all votes are cast only by legally registered voters and counted as cast.
Are you satisfied with Palm Beach County’s optical-scanning voting machines?
No, it is not clear that the voter has assurance or confirmation that his or her individual vote is cast as intended (no paper trail confirmation or receipt). These machines are also about 8 years old and likely not up to date with newest technology and voter security measures. These machines are also vulnerable to remote hacking and security breaches.
Has the necessary training and firmware updates been done to prevent voting malfunctions that occured for the disabled and others in 2014?
This is the type of problem that can be prevented or corrected by pro-active, pre-election training, testing and monitoring of system logic and function before actual casting of votes.
