  • Do you think Palm Beach County voters should approve the penny-per-dollar sales tax increase?
I think the sales tax should be approved because it will provide dollars for infrastructure. During the downturn in the economy many infrastructure projects were not funded in order to keep taxes down and people in their homes. We need to address these infrastructure projects as soon as possible so they do not become more expensive to fix. Also the tax burden will be spread over residents and non residents.
Do you plan to publicly comment on local governments’ tax rates as outgoing appraiser Gary Nikolits has?
Tax rates for our County have been below TABOR values. TABOR was the gold standard for fiscal restraint in government.
Will you track down and penalize firms that file appraisal appeals, then withdraw the appeal but keep the fees they charge clients?
I would work with state and local governments to address this issue.
The Save Our Homes law gives a tax break to longtime homesteaders but shifts more tax burden to non-homestead owners. Should it be changed?
Should the method of appraisal used be changed from one based on “highest and best use” of a property to one applying other factors?
The method of appraisal is set in statute. However the factors that Florida Statute include for consideration contemplate this if the statute is applied correctly.
