Born in the small town of Winchester, Va., Christopher Evans played football throughout middle and high school. At Old Dominion University, he majored in microbiology, became treasurer of his fraternity and attended One Way Ministries.

Suffering with what his mother described as a severe case of arthritis, Christopher had been prescribed pain pills at one point. In rehab in South Florida, he told his roommate he was a heroin user.

He died in the Boca Raton apartment the two shared. His autopsy revealed fentanyl in his system.

He was 25.
